What is the UMF Factor?

UMF stands for “Unique Manuka Factor”. This ranges from 0 to 30, and the higher the rating, the higher the anti-bacterial properties of the honey. Here is a guide to the different UMF ratings:

0-4: Not detectable

5-9: Maintenance levels only (similar to table honey and not recommended for special therapeutic use)

10-15: Useful levels endorsed by the Honey Research Unit at The University of Waikato
